Dr Liz Murray is a British medical doctor, author, and women’s health advocate specialising in menstrual health, chronic gynaecological conditions, and patient-led healthcare reform.
A former NHS doctor, she bridges clinical expertise with lived experience to address the widespread normalisation of menstrual pain and delayed diagnosis in women’s healthcare. Her work focuses on conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, premature ovarian insufficiency, neurodiversity and PMDD.
She is the author of Not Just Painful Periods. Her work on health equality and advocacy led to her receiving the British Citizen Award (People’s Honours) at Parliament for her services to health.
Dr Liz published the white paper proposing a new clinical framework and policy to support recovery in women's health. In recognition of the current diagnostic delay and crisis within the healthcare system, Dr Liz outlined a new Transformational Health model outlining the Diagnosis Spiral and Thrive Arc which could be used to aid recovery in Women's Health.
Liz and her team are proud to announce that Aster (part of the Octopus Publishing Group) will be publishing Dr Liz's debut book - Not Just Painful Periods, Endometriosis, Fibroids and Menstrual Health. Release Date April 2026, now available to pre-order.

Dr Liz Murray published the white paper - The Murray Model (proposed): A CLINICAL AND POLICY FRAMEWORK FOR IDENTIFYING DIAGNOSTIC DECLINE AND SUPPORTING RECOVERY IN WOMEN'S HEALTH. An independent clinical and policy framework developed by Dr Liz to allow for transforming the diagnostic pathway in women's health from crisis to care.

Dr Liz is passionate about working towards equity in healthcare. After experiencing rare health conditions and the subsequent lack of support, Liz became aware of the barriers and lack of equity in support for patients. This led to her founding the charity Mortal And Strong and working to provide equal support for anyone with any health condition.

Dr Liz's personal attitude toward not letting her health conditions stop her from living (not just surviving) has led her to sharing this message with brands, projects and engagements. Including Cool Crutches, Scamp & Dude and Daler-Rowney.

Dr Liz is a huge advocate for supporting the movement to regulate online health information. As an ambassador for the Patient Information Forum, Liz works to promote awareness for the need for safe, reliable information of health content online.
